Remote or lab-based user research in the USA, with real customers and local, Senior UX Researchers

The USA is a vast market and for businesses thinking about organizing UX research or user research with their clients, it can be a daunting prospect. That is where UX24/7 comes in.

We are a global design research agency that operates with our own team of Senior UX Researchers. All our Senior UX Researchers have been evaluated as part of their joining process to ensure they have the skills, capabilities and experience to deliver user research and UX Research to the high standards we expect. Our team in the USA are located in the East and West Coast as well as Denver and Chicago. And we can travel. Getting round the USA is relatively easy and there are plenty of research facilities available.

Remote and lab-based user research in USA

We run user research and UX research in USA using remote and lab-based facilities. Remote methodologies use online screen sharing technologies. In the USA Zoom is very popular and most people are familiar with using it and have it installed on their laptop or mobile device.

For lab based testing we have run research in various locations including Santa Monica, LA, Denver, New York and New Jersey. We are set up operationally to use facilities where our clients want the research to take place. We have various advanced testing kits that work in the different facility set ups we utilize.

In all case we provide a viewing experience that includes picture-in-picture video and where required, simultaneous translation into whatever your native language is. Recordings of the sessions are also provided with your local language as well as with the English original.

Finally, our Senior UX Researchers provide a detailed analysis from the session. Our deliverables include observations and issues together with analysis and actionable recommendations. Our team speaks English so we will deliver a playback session with you in English or we can arrange a translator.

So, what are you waiting for? If you want to conduct user research in USA, we can help.

UX Research and User Research in USA

US participants have a tendency to be blunt in their feedback, which may require an experienced moderator to handle. This is particularly true in the East Coast and in New York even more so.

The predominant language is English, but there are many differences in word meanings between the US and UK. A moderator should be aware of these to avoid confusion.

US participants value their weekends, so it is often difficult to schedule research sessions for Saturday and Sunday. Running research during the working day or into weekday evenings is easiest to arrange.

Sessions in the US can take longer, due to the willingness of participants to be critical. Moderators need to be careful about balancing the feedback they receive.

Recruitment fees for participants tend to be higher in the US when compared with the UK and Europe. Most recruiters will also charge a substantial project management fee. Vouchers and gift cards are the preferred incentives over cash.

As Americans are dependent upon their cars, research facilities are likely to charge for parking. Facilities can often be out of town and so moderators and stakeholders need to plan their transport. Unlike the UK, they will also charge extra for a viewing screen.
