User Research in Vietnam
Remote or lab-based user research in Vietnam, with real customers and local, Senior UX Researchers
Vietnam is a country that occupies the eastern part of Southeast Asia and is becoming economically important with a population of over 100 million and a rapidly expanding market economy. The capital city is Hanoi which is located to the north, but the largest city is Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, which is located in the South. The country actually has three distinct areas with the North being the cultural centre, the central region the home of the Nguyen Dynasty and the city of Hue, and the southern region which is the urban centre.
The official language is Vietnamese which exhibits strong influences from Chinese, and English is increasingly favored as the second language. French, Chinese, Khmer and other highlander languages are also spoken, but around 85% of Vietnamese people consider themselves to be ethnically Vietnamese. So when running research you need to consider what part of the country your target participants will be located and what languages they are likely to speak.
