User Research in Russia

User Research in Russia

Remote or lab-based user research in Russia, with real customers and local, Senior UX Researchers

Moscow is a vast market and for Western businesses thinking about organizing UX research or user research with their clients, it can be a daunting prospect. That is where UX24/7 comes in. We are a global design research agency that operates with our own team of Senior UX Researchers. All our Senior UX Researchers have been evaluated as part of their joining process to ensure they have the skills, capabilities and experience to deliver user research and UX research to the high standards we expect. Despite Russia being a relatively immature market for UX Research our small team is experienced and capable.

Remote and lab-based user research in Russia

We run user research and UX research in Russia using remote and lab-based facilities. Remote methodologies use online screen sharing technologies and for Russia we have to keep up to date with the latest situation. Zoom is somewhat popular but it is likely to be banned for some applications. Russia is developing its own platforms and, as with China, when available these are likely to offer a better solution. Telegram is also popular and can be used for Video Calls and we sometimes use this as an alternative.

For lab based testing we are able to deliver services in Moscow or Saint Petersburg, Russia’s main cities. We use facilities where our clients want the research to take place and have various advanced testing kits that work in the various different facility set ups we utilize.

In all case we provide a viewing experience that includes picture-in-picture video and where required, simultaneous translation into whatever your native language is. Recordings of the sessions are also provided with your local language as well as with the Russian original.

Finally, our Senior UX Researchers provide a detailed analysis from the session. Our deliverables include observations and issues together with analysis and actionable recommendations. Our team also speak English so we are able to deliver a playback session with you either in Russian or English.

So, what are you waiting for? If you want to conduct user research in Russia, we can help.

UX24/7 delivered a project that exceeded our expectations in Russia. The remote streaming worked well as we were unable to travel and for mobile user research the experience was very good.

UX Research and User Research in Russia

Russians over the age of 55 aren’t generally internet and smartphone savvy, although this isn’t always the case in larger cities (pop. 2m+)

Because of deficiencies in the domestic market, foreign products have a history of being highly regarded, meaning participants are often hard-wired not to criticize overseas brands. Hiding brand names can ensure participants remain objective.

Russians value their free time, so sourcing participants for weekend research sessions may prove difficult.

Russians take great pride in their cultural heritage and country, so steps should be taken to ensure nothing is done that could be construed as offensive to either.

Orthodox Christianity is Russia’s predominant religion. Christmas falls on January 7th in the Julian calendar, which is used by the Russian Orthodox Church.

What might be considered a ‘short distance’ in Russia (St. Petersburg to Moscow, for instance), might in fact require a four hour train journey. If travelling between locations, check duration times beforehand.
