The Netherlands is a small but important European market but can be confusing as it can be referred to as Holland and the people are Dutch! Remote and lab-based user research in The Netherlands
We run user research and UX Research in The Netherlands using remote and lab-based facilities. Remote methodologies use online screen sharing technologies and in The Netherlands we use Zoom. Dutch users are very familiar with Zoom and internet speeds are very good, so running remote research is relatively easy in this market.
For lab based testing there is a natural tendency to focus on Amsterdam and in part this is due to the scarcity of good research facilities in other cities. But they do exist and so user research in Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Eindhoven is possible. We generally use facilities where our clients want the research to take place and have various advanced testing kits that work in the various different facility set ups we utilize.
In all case we provide a viewing experience that includes picture-in-picture video and where required, simultaneous translation into whatever your native language is. Recordings of the sessions are also provided with your local language as well as with the Dutch original.
Finally, our Senior UX Researchers provide a detailed analysis from the session. Our deliverables include observations and issues together with analysis and actionable recommendations. Our team also speak English so we are able to deliver a playback session with you either in Dutch or English.

UX Research and User Research in The Netherlands
The Netherlands is very much an egalitarian-based society, an outlook that stretches to the workplace. Opinions are encouraged from all employees regardless of where they are in the hierarchy. Participants will offer comprehensive feedback, giving you a greater degree of evidence with which to work.
Communication tends to be direct, unemotional and not prone to hyperbole. It can be useful therefore to use scales, such as the Standard Usability Scale (SUS) in user research in The Netherlands to help qualify feedback given verbally.
The Dutch value their personal time, so you may have difficulties finding suitable participants willing to take part at the weekend or in the evening. They also tend to be punctual so it is possible to schedule five full 60-minute sessions within a lab-day.
In consumer research, the Dutch will often suggest that as a nation they are the most interested in bargains. Don’t be surprised to see them hunting for offers when conducting ecommerce user research in The Netherlands.
